Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™
Neuromodulators Relax Wrinkle-Revealing Muscles at Chicago’s Iteld Plastic Surgery
Tired of looking older than you want to look? Give yourself a break. Actually, give your wrinkle-causing muscles a break. With neuromodulators like Jeuveau™, Xeomin®, and Dysport®, Chicago’s Dr. Lawrence Iteld and his expert injector team can inhibit the contractions that cause facial creases and lines to appear. Sessions are quick. Treatments are entirely nonsurgical, and results last for months at a time, making the face appear smoother and more youthful for as long as the effects last.
Dysport® and all the other neuromodulators make use of the same active ingredient—a protein derived from botulinum bacteria. When injected, this protein keeps chemical messages from getting from nerves to muscles. No signal means no contraction. No contraction means no forehead skin pulled into furrows that are visible across a crowded room.
The most well-known neuromodulator is BOTOX® Cosmetic, used around the world for more than 30 years for both medical and aesthetic purposes. This injectable has FDA approval for three cosmetic applications: forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
Dysport® and Xeomin®
Dysport® and Xeomin® are also used for both medical and aesthetic purposes, with an FDA approval specifically for frown lines.
Known as “Newtox” to some, this is the first aesthetic-only neuromodulator, also FDA approved for frown lines.
Each begins working within days, leading to several months of reduced muscle activity. Contractions will eventually resume, but anyone who enjoyed their vacation from frown lines can come in for a new round of injections.
While the basics are the same for each neuromodulator, they all have unique characteristics that make one ideal over the others for certain patients and situations. Details are best discussed during a private, one-on-one consultation, which allows Dr. Iteld and his team to examine the wrinkles in question, and develop a plan that involves the most appropriate treatments.
