Get the Contours You Want at Chicago’s Iteld Plastic Surgery
The first time’s not always the charm. With thousands and thousands of women choosing augmentation and other breast surgery procedures each year, there are going to be some who work with doctors who may … let’s say they may not be as technically advanced or have as critical an artistic eye as others. Which brings us to the subject of breast revision. Chicago-area plastic surgeon Dr. Lawrence Iteld routinely works with patients who were not exactly thrilled with their initial results from another practice and who want the job done right.
Breast revision surgery is also performed when an implant ruptures, leading to a noticeable deflation or other complication. In these cases, the failed device can be removed, and a new implant inserted in its place.
How Does Breast Revision Work?
Of course, everything starts with a consultation, so Dr. Iteld can make sure the next steps are indeed the ones that will give you more of the results you want.
At that point, whether the current implant’s size is not the volume you want, or it’s gone from a full device to a deflated shell, or if the shape of the breast has changed in unfavorable ways, Dr. Iteld will first make an incision to remove the original implant. He may then create a new pocket and insert a new implant into a better sized and positioned space. He could also use a matrix to create internal bra-like support.
Fat transfer breast augmentation is often used with breast revision, since small amounts of a patient’s own fat can help to address contour irregularities and make the final result natural looking and smooth.
Incisions will be carefully closed with an eye to make them as unobtrusive as possible.

What Can I Expect After Breast Revision?
As with your initial augmentation surgery, you will notice bruising and swelling after your procedure. The bruising will clear and the swelling will go down naturally in a matter of days and weeks.
Is Narcotics-Free Breast Revision Possible?
You’ve already got enough on your plate when it comes to breast revision, so why worry about your recovery? With Dr. Iteld’s narcotics-free approach, downtime after your procedure can be opioid free. The secret is in the surgical techniques that prevent pain in the first place, as opposed to leaving it to be managed later. This strategy is also available for tummy tucks, body lifts, and virtually anything on the Iteld Plastic Surgery menu of services.

Are There Other Options Beyond Breast Revision?
Women who need breast surgery to repair trauma due to injury or after medically necessary surgery, such as mastectomy, may require breast reconstruction.
If you haven’t had a prior augmentation but are dealing with sagging in one or both breasts, you may want to consider a breast lift. Breast lifts are also great as part of a revision to reverse some age-related drooping, or drooping caused by overstretched skin.
Dr. Iteld invites any woman who wants a change to the look or feel of her breasts to discuss her goals with him. Together, you can come up with a plan designed to deliver customized results.
