This month, we celebrate moms for all they do. For women who have completed having their children and want to get back to their pre-baby bodies, it’s time to talk with us about a mommy makeover. After all, your breasts probably lost their shape, volume, and size, and even with all your exercise and dieting, your stomach may still have extra skin that sags.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

You may be wondering exactly what is involved.

What is isn’t: It is not a single surgical procedure

What it is: It involves several surgical procedures—performed at the same time.

There is no set formula; rather each is tailored to the patient’s specific needs. It may include some or all of the following:

  • Breast surgery — augmentation, lift and/or reduction
  • Tummy tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Labiaplasty
  • Brazilian butt lift

Some of my patients include nonsurgical options, such as Botox and dermal fillers to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles on their face.

Mommy Makeover Benefits

If you aren’t happy with how your body looks post pregnancies but aren’t really sure what benefits you’ll gain by having a mommy makeover, here are a few things you can look forward to:

  • improved body proportions
  • more shapely breasts
  • a flatter and tighter tummy
  • a tight, well-shaped butt

Ultimately, you’ll look and feel better in everything you wear.

The Best Candidates

The best candidates for a mommy makeover are women who have completed their families, are no longer breast feeding, and want to reduce the signs pregnancies and time have taken on their bodies. It’s important to note this is not a weight-loss program nor is it a substitute for exercise. You should be at or close to your ideal weight, physically fit, and in good health. And, as with all surgical procedures, patients must have realistic expectations about their surgical outcomes.
