The eyes are the windows to the soul is a fairly common metaphor. But, is it true? According to Psychology Today, the eyes do provide a lot of information about another person’s emotional state. “When people are sad or worried, they furrow their brow, which makes the eyes look smaller. Yet when people are cheerful, we correctly call them ‘bright eyed.’ That’s because people raise their eyebrows when they’re happy, making the eyes look bigger and brighter.”
But, if you have dark marks, puffiness, or baggy saggy eye lids, no matter how happy you are, you may just look old and tired. Time to deal with this! Fortunately, we have a host of ways to do just that—from injectables, to radio frequency (RF) techniques, to surgery, there’s a solution for what troubles you.
Nonsurgical Options
Injectables
Have you begun to see some hollowing or dark circles under your eyes? You may be the perfect candidate for fillers. Under-eye treatment provides you with a nonsurgical, temporary option to restore naturally youthful volume and smoothness to the skin around the eyes. This treatment provides an effective alternative patients who are dissatisfied with the appearance of under eye hollows and dark circles but do not wish to undergo a surgical procedure or aren’t ready for surgery. In this location, fillers last between six and 12 months; you’ll want to repeat having the treatment redone to keep looking your best.
Sublative
New technologies bring about new options for fighting the signs of aging. We are pleased to offer Sublative—fractionated bi-polar radio frequency (RF) to correct mild to moderate and superficial imperfections of skin tone and texture. Post treatment, you’ll produce new collagen and healthy skin cells. You may need about three in-office treatments spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart. The benefits of Sublative include:
- visible results with minimal downtime
- safe and effective for all skin types
- quick treatments—typically 20-40 minutes
Surgical Options
Either you’ve tried a nonsurgical option or, when discussing your particular situation with us or another plastic surgeon, you realize it’s time for eyelid surgery, known as Blepharoplasty. This surgical procedure is for you if you have fatty bags around their eyes, droopy eyelids or excessive eyelid skin. It can help reduce the unwelcome signs of aging, giving you a more youthful appearance.
Lower Blepharoplasty
A lower Blepharoplasty is a great choice if you have:
- excessive eyelid skin
- fatty bags around and under your eyes that don’t improve after a good sleep,
- excess skin on the lower eyelids and excessive eye wrinkles
Upper Blepharoplasty
If you have droopy lids, whether they are interfering with your vision or not, we can perform an Upper Blepharoplasty to remove the excess skin and open up the area.
Depending on your specific needs, these procedures can be performed together or as stand-alone surgeries.
Please note that a Blepharoplasty does not address the dark pigmentation issues. For that, we recommend either a filler or Sublative.
