Breast Procedure for Every Need

Many people think that a breast procedure means implants. Breast augmentation with implants is indeed very popular, but it’s not the only way to make breasts larger, and it isn’t the only procedure patients want.

  • Some women want natural breasts without implants; others want smaller breasts and need a reduction. Then, some patients have asymmetry or had a previous procedure and need a revision. And, for women who had a mastectomy, reconstruction is a possibility. For augmentation or reduction, you may need to add a breast lift to have the right balance and silhouette.
  • For men who have dealt with gynecomastia, male breast reduction may be the solution they seek.
  • Trans people have chest surgery options as well.

Let’s look at each of these breast procedures:

Breast augmentation with implants

Breast augmentation is now a highly customizable procedure. Choose your size, shape, and implant fill. Implants can be placed either subpectoral or sub-glandular and there are incision location options, including under your arm (Transaxillary), around your nipple (Periareolar, and the crease under your breast (Inframammary).

Fat transfer breast augmentation

This is an increasingly popular option for patients who may not want a foreign object placed in their bodies or for those who don’t want the long-term maintenance of implant-based augmentation. For this procedure, I use liposuction to harvest fat from areas of your body where you don’t want it, purify it, and then inject it into your breasts to enhance them. Fat transfer is an option for women who are looking for natural results, a relatively small increase in breast size, as well as for correcting minor asymmetry.

Breast lift

Do you have sagging breasts and/or nipples pointing downward? A breast lift is a surgical way to change your breasts’ shape and reposition them. Keep in mind that breast lift won’t significantly change the size of your breasts. That’s why for many of my patients, we combine a breast lift with augmentation or reduction.

Breast reduction

If you’re dealing with excessively large breasts that cause back or neck pain, it may be time to get a better-balanced silhouette. Reduction surgery has a very high satisfaction rate, as patients are typically happy with the relief it provides them once the extra weight is removed, and they love having the ability to get better-fitting clothing. Reduction almost always includes a lift as the nipples need repositioning.

Male breast reduction

For men, this procedure corrects gynecomastia and usually involves the removal of fat and other tissue. It may include liposuction to reveal more masculine contours. Say goodbye to male boobs!

Breast revision

You previously had breast surgery but may not be satisfied with your results. Maybe time or other factors have created changes that cause patients to seek a revision. The goal here is to improve your initial results, and often to achieve better symmetry, repair capsular contracture, and other unsatisfactory issues.

Breast reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is a popular part of a woman’s breast cancer treatment. This surgery rebuilds the shape and look of the breast and falls into two categories: implant-based reconstruction and flap reconstruction. Implant reconstruction relies on breast implants to help form a new breast mound. Flap (or autologous) reconstruction uses your tissue from another part of the body to form a new breast. And sometimes I do a combination of both to achieve the best outcome.

Transgender / Top Surgery

Female-to-male, male-to-woman, nonbinary — when your outer appearance doesn’t match how you see yourself. Depending on the patient’s desired outcome, I either remove or augment the tissues and reshape the chest to create a more masculine or feminine appearance.

No pain recovery

For all these procedures, I follow my 3-step non-opioid protocol. We are preventing pain before it ever even happens. So, you won’t need pain medicine if you don’t have pain, won’t have to deal with the side effects of narcotics, and will have a faster recovery.
